Wickum Weld is seeking a responsible Flatbed Assembler to join our team. Your role will involve the safe and timely delivery of our products to customers, alongside supporting various functions within the shop during non-delivery times. The Flatbed Assembler will be responsible for assembling flatbeds, ensuring that they meet DOT quality standards and safety regulations.  This role involves reading blueprints, using hand and power tools, welding, and collaborating with team members to complete projects efficiently and on time.

Shift: 8-hour shift

Salary: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour DOE

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints. 
  • Perform all needed set-up and layout of equipment and jobs (using clamps, fixtures, etc.) according to the blueprints.
  • Assemble flatbed according to specifications, including installation of structural components.
  • Weld complex projects utilizing MIG & TIG processes on various materials (aluminum, carbon steel, stainless)
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment such as drills, and saws safely and effectively.
  • Accurately measure and align components to ensure proper fit to specifications
  • Conduct quality checks throughout the assembly process to identify and address any defects or deviations from the specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working order.
  • Work closely with other team members to meet production goals and deadlines.
  • Maintain records of work performed, including any modifications or adjustments made during the assembly process.
  • Additional tasks as required.

Main Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in flatbed assembly is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year aluminum MIG & TIG welding experience required.
  • Strong mechanical skills with knowledge of light and heavy duty trucks, along with the ability to use various hand and power tools effectively.
  • Familiarity with automotive and trailer wiring.
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and quality of assembled flatbeds.
  • Ability to lift up to 75lbs. and work in physically demanding conditions.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
